The clip surfaced on social media recently and gone viral since then.
In the video, the woman climbs the steep steps of the fort, as a man walks behind her. The people standing on top of the trek also cheer her on.
Encouraged every step of the way by loud cheers, whistles, claps, and loud applause, Asha Ambade, dressed in a white saree, climbed the steep steps. She used the sides of the steps for support to climb up, and not once deterred by the difficulty of the trek. She managed to complete the trek with a broad smile on her face.
Harihar Fort, Nashik
The Harihar fort, located 40km from Nashik City is famous for its narrow, rock-cut steps carved at an almost 80-degree incline. The staircase is not for the fainthearted.
Since being shared, the footage has been circulated widely on the internet with praises for Asha Ambade and her determination and courage. Deputy Director of Maharashtra Information Centre, Dayanand Kamble wrote, “If there is a will there’s a way. Look at this 70-year-old mountaineer, salute to this Mauli.”
